Hi r/boardgames!
I found the WHQ rulebook and reference guide really confusing. Maybe it's me, but the wording and the fact that it's all over the place had me read again and again those rules, and still there are some parts where I'd love some help:
- Can we trade items, or do we have to discard so that another player can later grab that gear card from the discard pile?
- The campaign pool is pretty hard to grasp, especially that rule: at the end of a scenario I'm supposed to add any cards from the campaign pool that weren't discarded back to the campaign pool, on top of the new cards added to the campaign pool at the end of the new scenario?
- During a travel, ennemies in the shadows are discarded. Does it mean engaged ennemies travel with us?
- I'm not sure how you increase gear capacity. The way I get it is at first you can only have one gear card, every time you increase your gear capacity you can carry one more, up to one armor, two weapons (and no limit on the number of accessory gear cards), is that correct?
- When the rulebook says actions with the prepare ability cannot he exhausted does it mean I cannot choose them to be the target of any effect that forces me to exhaust an action card? Or that I can target them, but they will be 'immune '?
- Only ranged attacks can reach monsters in the shadows, but if any ennemy has an attack ability, he can harm the active player even from the shadows?
- Traveling to a new location Vs. resolving a location effect, in which order do you resolve these? If a location is fully explored, we decide to travel to the next, do we resolve the effect of the location we leave, or of the newly active one?
- The resurrection rules state that a defeated player removes any wound token in excess of his max health, doesn't it mean he'd be resurrected with 0 health? It's either an error in the rules or do the effects that resurrect a player state how much health he gains?
Sorry if some questions could be answered by reading the cards, I'm at work witu only the rule pdf's with me, and also I'd like to keep the element of surprise by not reading the cards beforehand! Thanks for any help you can provide.
